Patty Binter, owner of the new liquor store located at 4729 East Central and Oliver, was approached by WG Farha in October to start a fine wine store.
This appealed to Binter because of her family’s background in the liquor business starting with her Grandfather, EW Sullivan. The family has been in the beverage and alcohol business in the Wichita area since 1949, when Kansas repealed prohibition.
When Binter heard of the location at Central and Oliver, her thoughts immediately went back to Glenna Rossiter’s fabulous wine store located at the same intersection. The Binter’s were suppliers to Rossiter and worked with her on the store.
Rossiter prided itself on fine wines and selection. Binter always had a wonderful experience shopping there. She wants to bring that same experience back to the neighborhood. In April 2019, traditional Kansas Liquor stores will be allowed to sell nonalcoholic items.
Together with Farha we have put together a new store concept of wine, beer and spirits, including traditional neighborhood market items available in the same location. Along with a fantastic wine selection you will be able to select nonalcoholic items and check-out at one counter.
The property is 11,000 square feet with ample parking. 30 cooler doors, a beer cave and a controlled climate fine wine cave will be part of the new store. The concept will bring fine wine, craft beer and spirits to the heart of Wichita.
“We are very excited to renew and rebuild this corner to become the destination for all our customer’s needs.” We have allowed room for expansion in 2019 and beyond, said Binter.
Central Market Wine & Spirits hopes to represent local suppliers and our customers with simple, one-stop convenience shopping.
Binter added, ͞We feel this is the beginning of, and the future for beverage alcohol in Kansas and are very excited to be a part of it!
